Chiredzi's Embrace: An Upbringing in the Heart of Zimbabwe In the sun-drenched landscapes of Chiredzi, Zimbabwe, my story unfolded against the backdrop of simplicity and the rhythmic beats of nature. I gazed straight into her eyes, bewildered, and she responded with a comment that is still vivid in the annals of my mind thirty years later, calling for me to wake up. Grant accounting: does previous NGO experience matter?

Image
I have often been questioned by individuals from all walks of life - professional accountants and budding ones, and the general populace - on this controversial subject. Many job adverts for accounting positions require individuals to have prior experience in managing or handling donor-funded projects or programs to be considered, and others in extreme circumstances would prefer individuals with specific experience in managing grants of specific funders like the USAID, EU,  Oxfam, Africa Aid, Norwegian Aid, and Dutch Aid to name just a few. While these are just my thoughts, I will recommend areas for empirical studies at the end of the discussion. Grants and Grant Accoun...
